In 1997 Sorem won the tender made by The Italian Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri Department of Civil Protection for The Operative and Logistic Management of the Italian Canadair CL415 fleet used for Aerial Fire Fighting and Civil Protection Missions. This tender allowed the Public Administration to keep the costs for the Aerial Fire Fighting service under control, improving the performance and efficiency of the service.
Between the considered Fire-Fighting Aircrafts, Beriev is the only one amphibious, twin-jet, pressurized, all weather condition, middle-range, with big tanks capacity of 12 Tons of extinguishing liquid, currently available on the World Market.
Following this evaluation analysis Aviation Global Consulting Ltd started a negotiation with Beriev Aircraft Company to develop the aircraft and in its presentation in some defined Areas.
Following this negotiation, ACG Ltd signed an initial agreement with BERIEV Aircraft Company, that gives to AGC Ltd the right to promote and to sell their aircrafts and the Fire Fighting and Civil Protection Aerial Services in EU, USA, Turkey, Brazil and Argentina under market and commercial basis.
The initial agreement has been extended to the World market.
This revolutionary format of tender gave to both, the Public Administration and the Concessionaire, the same objectives in order to achieve the following targets:
having an Operative organization composed of flight crews and support staff professional and trained to conduct missions all over the world; ,
maintaining the fleet with a schedule that ensures to have all the Operative Aircrafts, established in the Contract (depending by the Season), anytime efficient and ready to fly;
planning the training of Pilots and Technicians to maintain, update and improve their professionality and to build up new Crew and Technicians for the needs to grow up the fleet;
keeping the fixed costs of the entire organization under control, limiting variable costs to real needs.
Under an experimental Contract with the Italian Government, Sorem tested 2 aircrafts Beriev BE-200 in Wet-Lease, during the summer fire-fighting seasons 2004 and 2005.
Sorem trained Italian Flight Crew, Technicians and Engineers to perform this experimental project.
Beriev BE-200 aircrafts were based in Olbia Airport (Sardinia) and were operated with integrated Italian and Russian Flight Crew, Technicians and Engineers.
Beriev BE-200 was used in operative fire-fighting flights, integrated with all other aircrafts (CL-415 and Fire Boss) and helycopters (S64 F, AS 350 and AB 412) used by the Italian and Regional Government.
